Ariana La Rosa
As Secretary what I would like to accomplish with my position on CORE is to make sure things in PASA run smoothly and accordingly. I'd love to help any of my fellow officers' in need. I'd also like to help people feel comfortable and welcome being in PASA.
Hello I'm Ariana and I am extremely excited to be your Secretary this year. Some things I enjoy are playing with my dog, spending time with family and friends, practicing martial arts, and dance. Coming into my second year and reflecting on my journey in PASA I would say it began during PCN season. Quite honestly I was really shy during the beginning of my first year. I was ambitious about being more involved with this organization, but felt super intimidated whenever I'd go to events since I didn't have any friends. I felt lonely and embarrassed. I decided to stop coming to events. Spring quarter comes around and let's just say it wasn't a moment in life I like to look back on. I was honestly very depressed with how everything around me was going. I remember trying to look up a solution to fix how I was feeling. The best solution that came up was to become a more active person, do something you love, and surround yourself with positive people. That same day I got a newsletter from PASA that said they needed more dancers for PCN. Dancing is something I really enjoy; despite my fear of feeling alone I went out to several of the practices. It was the best decision I made all year. Everyone was actually very welcoming and loving. I made more friends than I could have imagined. I felt blessed. Once PCN season came to an end, CORE started running nominations for next year's officers. I gained a lot of respect for COREazón near the end of the year. COREazón amazed me with how much time, effort, and passion they had about PASA and PIlipinx culture. They were also the people that treated me with the most kindness. There's a saying that goes, "There will always be a reason why you meet people. Either you need them to change your life or you're the one that will change theirs". I felt motivated and decided to run with a goal of inspiring other people to step outside their comfort zone and giving back to the community.
